Development history

Version History

What changed in each release, with key development milestones highlighted along the way.

Version 28

  • Connected the official beatlabo.com website to the existing Cloudflare Pages project and configured www.beatlabo.com to redirect to the primary domain; Mode Shuffler remains the app name in both languages.
  • Anchored the FR / EN selector at the top-right of the practice app on phones and tablets, keeping its controls and appearance.
  • Added best-effort portrait orientation locking for installed phone apps and a bilingual rotate-phone message if the platform cannot lock; tablets still support portrait and landscape.
  • Enlarged the secondary English-letter note shown beneath French note names on tablets, in both orientations.
  • Updated the Android robot credit with Google’s recommended attribution, a French equivalent, and a Creative Commons 3.0 link; the V27 commercial audit remains a technical review rather than legal clearance.
  • Aligned website canonical URLs and refreshed the offline PWA cache for the new release. Paid-access verification and artwork provenance documentation remain separate follow-ups.

Version 27

  • Kept Mode Shuffler as the app name in both English and French, and matched the app header colors to the landing page.
  • Enlarged tablet musical information while keeping identical note, mode, interval and next-challenge text sizes in portrait and landscape; refined orientation-specific spacing.
  • Standardized the four tablet-landscape practice-setting field heights: Tempo, Change every, Randomize and Root note pool.
  • Removed the redundant 4/4 · 7 modes label from the practice app on smartphones and tablets.
  • Refined version-history milestone criteria; V26 remains documented as an improvement release rather than a separate milestone.
  • Completed a static commercial licensing audit of the V27 production files. No obvious third-party software, recorded-audio, or font licensing obstacles were identified; this was not a legal clearance.
  • Recorded follow-ups for paid distribution: refine Android robot attribution, preserve app icon and SVG creation records, and design payment verification and access control.

  • Rewrote the landing-page introduction to emphasize musical mode knowledge, note recognition, timing and groove, while removing duplicate beta and device-support wording.
  • Added a compact, dismissible installation reminder within the tablet challenge window when used in a browser; installed apps do not show it.
  • Added safe-area spacing for the iPad status bar when running the installed app, and polished the French feature heading.

Version 25

  • Added a dedicated tablet layout: a two-column practice workspace in landscape and a compact portrait layout with horizontally swipable settings cards.
  • Upgraded the landing page to support smartphones and tablets, including tablet-specific hero layouts, onboarding refinements, and an added Hear the Mode feature card.
